Broken Bow Fall Bass

Fall bass fishing at Lake Broken Bow, Beaver's Bend, Oklahoma with Guide Bryce Archey.
Guide Bryce Archey sends us this report from Lake Broken Bow:

Fishing is really beginning to pick up as you can see by the photo the quality of fish are getting better.

Number wise we are catching between 15 to 20 fish a morning on my trips.
As the weather begins to cool off the fishing should heat up even more.

OKWD Benefit Raffle for Fishing Trip

Win a striper fishing trip to Lake Ouchita
Guide David Clark of Fish On! is sponsoring a raffle for a fishing trip to benefit the OKWD Hybrid/Striper programs. The details are as follows:

FISH ON!!!! RAFFLE

All Money to benefit the Oklahoma Wildlife Department

I am raffling off a weekend Striper fishing trip to Lake Ouachita (20 miles W of Hot Springs Ark).

It is $20 per ticket and I will only sell 50. 100% of the money will be donated to the Oklahoma Wildlife Department. They will quadruple all funds donated.

The $1000.00 donated will become $4000.00.
The money will be used towards the Oklahoma Hybrid/Striper programs. The drawing will be at the OSBA Nov. meeting. (do not have to be present to win)

This is for a day and a half of fishing, and up to four anglers. We would meet at daylight Sat. morning (1 usually camp) go in for a shore lunch (hopefully fish fry) go back out, fish till dark and fish Sunday morning till about 11am and then pack up and come home.

It is for a fall/winter trip either the fall/winter of 2007/2008 or 2008/2009. (I consider
fall/winter being Nov. thru Jan.)

The biggest fish that we have caught there has been in Nov. Dec, and Jan. This is for the fishing part of the trip only. If you don't want to camp, there are a couple of fairly nice motels on the water front for about $65 a night.

To purchase your ticket, call me at 918-724-6786 or email me at David@FishOnOK.com.

Tom Steed Hybrids Biting

Lake Tom Steed Hybrids are biting.
Aspiring pro Mike Diehl sends us this report from Lake Tom Steed:

Well Doug, it's like you always say, "the weather only bothers the person fishing and not the fish". The clouds were pretty dark this morning but I'm glad I decided to go fishing.

I caught these two huge Hybrids today throwing a small crank along the banks while bass fishing. These two Hybrids are a personal best for me and the fight was just fantastic. The hit and the hook-set was unbelievable, it felt like my rod and reel were about to be ripped out of my hands.

If I may, I would like to thank Russell and Dawnita Allard at the Windmill Winery in Roosevelt, OK for the use of their farm equipment. Without their help, I would still be moving dirt and rock around the house instead of enjoying the great sport of fishing.

Editor's Note: Way to go Mike! How's the wine?

Lake Altus-Lugert Fishing Report

Lake Altus-Lugert fishing report - the bass are biting!
Aspiring pro Mike Diehl sends us this fishing report from Lake Altus-Lugert:

Being the glutton for punishment that I am, I decided to try a new lake today and headed out to Lake Altus-Lugert on one of the busiest days of the year. I got a late start and only fished for about an hour after cruising the lake and looking for structure.

I managed to catch a few bass along the rock banks and ledges casting a medium size crank bait (purple & white) both toward the bank and parallel to the bank. The shallow sand banks produced nothing, so you should go deep with cranks or even jigs. The catfish bit as well as hybrids. Stripers seem to be slow, but they can be found in deeper parts of the lake.

Editor's Note: Thanks for the report Mike. Looks like you found a beautiful spot on the lake. Lake Altus-Lugert currently holds the state record for hybrid striped bass.
